Timecode splitter script?

I'm working on a script to do the following. But before I re-invent the wheel......
Has anyone already created a script that reads a list of timecodes (in and out) to split the events on the timeline accordingly. The selected clips will be moved to a new track on the timeline.

Or is there a script that I can use as an example? Or is there a better way?

Tsunami will do what you said with a bunch of areas defined by regions on the timeline. However, it does not read timecodes from a file to, basically, define the "regions". Wouldn't take much to define the regions based on reading a file, though. (in fact, I HAVE a routine that does that now - it's just not a part of Tsunami)
