timeline concerns

After i render tape in the camcorder to the computer using firewire.
I drag the avi's up to the timeline with audio. When i start editing i get voive from the audio track, but the avi's are like still pictures .There is no movement .When i was rendering them from the camcorder to computer there was movement of the avi' in the preview window. Can anyone help ?

Let's get the what you mean sorted first.

You captured from the camcorder to the computer using firewire.
You drag the avi up onto the T/L. You play them back on the T/L and you hear the audio but you don't see any movement like you saw in the preview window when you were capturing the tape.

I assume you're looking at the video in the preview monitor window?

Is there ANY motion at all or is it just really jumpy?

What do you have the Preview quality set to?
If it's set to Best/Full try changing it to Preview/Auto.

What kind of video did you capture and what are your project settings?
If your project properties don't match what you captured from the camcorder Vegas has to do a lot of work resampling/rescaling, more so at Best/Full. For example if your tape is PAL and your project is NTSC then Vegas is doing more work than needed and playback frames per second can get slow, especially on a slow PC.

It would be helpful if you responded to the questions I asked in response to your first posting, too:

Do you see the video in the capture window when you are capturing it?

Does the video play in the trimmer?
