Go to Options/Preferences/Video (tab) - the chances are that the "Thumbnails to show in video events" field is set to none. If so, open the dropdown box and select one of the options that will enable a thumbnail of the video event on the timeline.

@Janusz-Bus if i am reading your question correctly, i would say that one is not possible..... But in case i am reading it wrong, please explain in further detail what you have in mind.
