Timeline / Preview not playing back.

Richard-JT wrote on 1/22/2019, 4:44 AM

Sat down at work for a new project this year, dropped a clip onto the timeline, hit space to preview and no preview :-(

Tried also hitting Enter, nothing. The play button is pressed in the UI and the rate is at 1x for playback speed and nothing. Clicking playback buttons has no effect.

I have reset all Vegas preferences back to defaults, made sure GPU is off and I am at a loss and have no idea what else to test.

I updated to build 361 and its the same, I just dont understand. I have tried various video formats, even plain mp3 files and the timeline will not play.

The video shows in the preview window, but no playback.

No system changes have occurred, no driver updates.

Maybe I have missed something somewhere. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I also have 4 copies installed in a classroom (I work at a school), and will check these out later.

Utterly confused.

Richard.

Yes, it is bad for me. I was given a suggestion from elsewhere a few minutes ago to check / change my audio playback devices from within Windows itself. And this done the trick. Turns out, plugging in a second monitor yesterday changed the default sound playback and since i hadn't played any sound since that change I was unaware of any change / things not working. Thanks for the link but I had already checked that and browsed the forums before hand. I found a similar situation related to audio hardware but at the time didn't quite connect the dots regarding a monitor, reading it back now though and it makes sense.

Sorry to have wasted anyone's time.
