Timeline won't play on pre-view screen. Only audio

I am a beginner. I own a Canon HV30. I am have shot lots of footage, and I would like to play with the footage in editing, and learn Sony Vegas at the same time. I am capturing my video with a FireWire cable from my HV30 into my laptop. Uploading goes on without incident. Once I take a clip and put it onto the timeline the clip will only play audio. My pre-view screen is black. No video on the pre-view screen. I am not getting any video images from the clips on my timeline. Audio only. The only time a clip will play in the pre-view window is if I play the clip from the trimmer.

Why is the video from my timeline not playing on my pre-view? Why am I only getting audio? Is this a software issue? A camera issue? Or a issue of capturing? Please help!

Just turn off (uncheck) "view in trimmer" and magic will happen!

You have the Movie Studio version of Vegas. This is the Vegas Pro forum. You might want to ask your question in the Vegas Movie Studio forum because the features between the two products in the area of the trimmer is very different.

I did not catch the fact you're using Movie Studio. Sorry. I've never even seen Vegas Movie Studio, so I can't help you out.
