Title properties change randomly

ArchieMac wrote on 10/4/2023, 6:28 AM

I have an odd problem with either of the Protype or Legacy titlers in Vegas 19. For some reason the title properties randomly change to 8x8 size with a time of zero. This then stops the title actually showing. Setting the size and time back sorts the problem, but it can certainly catch you out! I tend to have a mixture of events with different resolutions on the timeline (UHD, HD etc) Has anyone else ran into this problem?

@ArchieMac I've been using ProType Titler quite a lot recently, preparing tutorials for it. That problem has happened to me just once. It was caused by a .NET Framework error while I was adjusting a key-frame. Unfortunately, support for ProType Titler stopped some time ago, so I'm afraid that if we want to keep using it, we have to put up with the occasional error that occurs.

Thanks for the reply Jack. This happens a LOT to me 😕 I thought maybe it was a ProType problem, so I started using the Legacy titler - and it still happens. It used to happen occasionally using my much older Sony Vegas 12, but just not very often. How did you fix the .NET error?

Jack S wrote on 10/5/2023, 5:15 AM

@ArchieMac I didn't fix it. When I got the .NET error message I clicked continue, closed the ProType Titler UI down, re-opened it and carried on from there. I have to say though, it's only happened once during all the time I've been using it. I'm on Win11. By the way, when it happens to you, did the UI show a big cross over it?
You say you're using the Legacy titler. Any reason why you're not using the Titles & Text titler?
The legacy titler is another deprecated feature and may suffer from the same .NET issue as ProType Titler.

Closing the UI for me doesn't do anything, I have to correct it manually. I seem to remember the same thing happening with the newer T&T, but I'll try it again anyways. The problem seems to rear it's head after I've copied & pasted a title. But I might just be getting paranoid now LOL. Thanks for the info.

@ArchieMac @Jack S @VEGASDerek

Humans see patterns where no patterns exist, but I've seen object properties being set to 8 pixels recently.

@john_dennis Mine was definitely a .NET Framework error. I'm just a bit annoyed with myself for not taking a screenshot of it. In my defence, I new that, as a deprecated feature, it was unlikely that the error would be addressed.

@Jack S

.NET, Dot Smet. I've spent the last hour doing important stuff like shimming my hard drive dock so it sets level in my case and doesn't bind SSDs when I insert and remove them. I'll let the coders code.

Thirty years ago, I would have had a tab card in my coat pocket that I could have used to do that in 0.006" increments. Now, I have to use my business cards. Business cards work fine since I don't use them for anything else. On to other things...
