Titles & Text Placement

I am a new user, so this is probably a very basic question. I inserted a black box as an overlay on my video. I used the track motion icon to place it in the bottom right corner. It takes up 3/4 of the bottom of the screen. I also placed text separately over this box.

Both times I was able to minimize edit screens in such a way that I could move my box and text around and see where it was moving on the actual video preview screen. I then could place them properly. Well, that's what I thought.

When I watch the video play inside the program....the box & text title show up exactly where I wanted them. But, then when I make the movie...the box has moved & so has the text. I tried to open the track motion screen & lock into place, resave and view again. But, that didn't work.

I'm sure this isn't a hard thing. Any clue what I'm missing?

Are you rendering the same resolution and aspect ratio as your project?

I saved to hard drive using a wmv file type. I chose the option 512 kpbs at 320x240. I did bring in the original video at, I believe I saved it as 640x480.

I believe what your saying is...to render it at wmv file type BUT AT 3 MBPS which is 640x480 as well. (That's the next option under wmv file type) The title should be fine then because both sizes are the same?

Is this what you mean?

Possibly. What was your source video? From a camera or something else?

It is usually the aspect ratio that might cause these problems, not some much the resolution.

Well, saving it as the 3 Mbps option at 640x480 didn't work. I must have been mistaken on what size I brought it in. The next option under wmv file type DID in fact work. (4.8 mbps 1280x720)

While testing these options, I could see each frame begin to render/process in the preview screen & when my overlay box & title appeared...it was exactly right on the 4.8 setting.

I'll have to look further into "aspect ratio". Again, I'm new - this is my very first project. I don't fully understand all the terms. I remember seeing that term inside the track motion edit boxes for the solid box overlay & text that I inserted.

I'll have to dig around in the "help" glossary & index to get a clue.
