TMPeng MPEG-2

Can anyone tell me why increasing the bitrate from 2520kps to 3000 or 4000kps in producing an SVCD causes my final MPEG-2 audio and video to become jumpy and blocky? I'd like to get a higher quality output to SVCD and have done all the standard improvements in TMPEng (filters, motion precision, etc., de-interlacing) without significant success. Are there other DVD players out there that can handle the higher bitrate throughput without this problem?

Thanks for any help,

Most DVD players can't handle bitrates as high as you want for SVCD. Check the compatibility list over at http:\\vcdhelp.com that lists the highest supported bitrate for many DVD models. If you're not happy with the quality of SVCD and your source files are decent quality probably time to move up to DVD then you can have very high bitrates.
