I upgraded my version 3 of TMPGEnc Express today to version 4 and am very impressed so far. As a test, I used an m2t file from my HVR-A1 I recorded last weekend. The video is of a radio controlled f16 jet. I reencoded the HD file to mov format using H.264 and am very pleased with the quality. Here's the video if you care to view it: f16 flight. The file is about 16mb.
This is one of the first times I've had the opportunity to use my camcorder and two things struck me. First, after tracking the model jet on it's flight and feeling I was playing a game of "Twister", I realized I needed to plant my feet in a more practical way, and 2nd, on some of the clips, the camera had a hard time locking focus due to the virtually standard grey background of the clouds. All in all though I think it turned out pretty well. (turn your volume up for the full effect of the model jet engine). I was told the aircraft cost around $5000.00...and I found out the next day that on a later flight after I had left, the plane did a half roll right into the ground on take off.
