Too many GB's when rendered

I have Sonyscreen blast and after rendering a 30 minute movie it saves to Microsoft movie as a 6.3 GB movie. Is there anyway to make this less? I tried to burn this to DVD and it could not burn because it is to big for the 4.3 GB dvd.
I also could not print to tape using a Sony TRV33 mini dv camera.
Thanks for your help!

Were you trying to make a DVD to watch on a TV? If so, you should be rendering to an MPEG2 file.

What codec did you say the video as?

I am trying to save to a DVD to watch on TV. I have edited several old videos and pictures with music. When I went to Make a Movie I think I chose NTSC format. I will check tonight.

Be sure you choose the DVD NTSC template, not the DV Template.

Let’s be very clear about what you need to do. In VideoFactory the commands would be:

Select Menu Item: Make Movie
Select Icon: Write you movie to file on your disk
From the dialog that pops up select:
Format: MainConcept MPEG-2 (*.mpg)
Template: DVD NTSC

Now you can’t do this in VideoFactory unless you purchase the MPEG-2 encoder ($30). I can’t imaging that Sony Screenblast includes the MPEG2 encoder for only $69 but it includes Chroma Key so it may include the MPEG-2 encoder as well.
