Type the list into a word processor document export to a .png (or a series of .pngs.) Use Pan/Crop and or Track Motion to do the scrolling. I've done it this way many times, but I don't even know 1000+ people, much less work with them.

If you have the names in a document or database, you could cut and paste.

You could also use an appropriate formated TXT text file and import this into the Credit Roll titler.

Previously for some videos I scanned the printed text and just scrolled that by. Lucky it was in a magazine type layout and looked pretty good.

FASST used to have a app to import text from a MS Word doc (as I recall). Don't know if it's available for later versions of VP.

Otherwise you can copy-paste into the Vegas pro type titler.. others titlers as well I would assume.

I've used Marcos suggestion, not for 1000! Its built in, just enter a few names, export, load the file up to see how its all done, then start typing. Then import back in.
