Hi,
I'm supposed to render a 5 cam shoot, with the followingdifferent type (all PAL 50i) source files:
The final output will be a DVD PAL 50i. It can be either in 4:3 or 16:9. The determining factor is the quality- depending on wich would give better result - taking in consideration the various source formats? However, depending on the decision, some material must be either zoomed or cropped, since there should not be picture size (black border) variations when switching between sources. I have been following the interlace discussion and I am now totally confused how to proceed. Two of the sources are UFF, three LFF. To experiment is not an option, since there are too many variables. Therefore I kindly ask you more experienced userswhat you would suggest:
1. What would be the best project properties assuming that the output is Mpeg2 PAL 50i?
2. Wich is the easiest method to normalize the aspect ratios and frame sizes, when every file type has numeorus source files on the timeline?
3. Should I go for 4:3 or for 16:9 output (actually 3 of the source file types are 16:9, only two are 4:3)?
4. Should the MPG2 output file be UFF or LFF (both are valid DVD formats)?
I'm totally lost here... Would not like to fall in any traps with interlacing or loosing quality... And - there is no option for reshooting...
Comments, thought and ideas are more than welcome! Glad to have Vegas that can handle such a task. On the other hand it would have been easier to have an editor that would not allow this, I could just have said no to my client...

File Size Aspect Pixel Interlace
-------------------------------------------
DV 720*576 4:3 1,096 LFF
DV 720*576 16:9 1,4568 LFF
MPG2 720*576 4:3 1,096 LFF
MPG2 720*576 4:3 1,096 UFF (originated as HDV 16:9 and converted to 4:3 = squeezed aspect)
AVC 1920*1080 16:9 1,000 UFF
