Track Expansion for A/B Roll

I've been playing around a little with the Track expansion for A/B Roll. If I'm doing this right, you put your main video on the top track layer and B roll on the bottom track layer and as you cut out sections of the bottom track layer the top layer is shown. My questions are this.

1. Is this the right way to do this or is there a better way?

2. Is there a way to see preview only of one layer or the other to decide where to cut?

3. Any chance to add a third layer A/B/C roll.

4. Would it be better to just use seperate tracks and split and cut out?

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance and have a good day!!!

Forget the "A/B Roll" paradigm. You can have as many TRACKS as you want - that will give you your "A/B/C" stuff. Put camera 1 on track 1, camera 2 on track 2, camera 3 on track 3. Or... put your main footage on track 2 and your "B-roll" on track 1. Leave only the sections of the B-roll you want to keep and it will "cover up" the main footage.

It's really kind of the same thing then isn't it. Except with your method you can solo view either track to see what's on it I guess.
