Track Locking

Abihider wrote on 2/7/2015, 10:50 AM
My background is both video and audio editing. I use ProTools and love Vegas Pro BUT, does Vegas Pro have a Track Locking feature?

It seems so simple and basic I hesitate to mention it, but have not been able to find this in my searches.

Once you finish a basic edit you want to lock your edits and then go back to drop in cover shots. Is there ANY way to do this?

Thanks
George

You can lock event(s) but you cant lock a track; not to my knowledge.

From what I've seen you can group tracks together. AND you can create a event group (i.e. Title and clip). But i have yet to figure out where you can lock events to each other and to a position on the timeline.

If you can, Please point me to where you can lock events.

Thanks

There is no way to lock a track --- but you can select all the events on a track, right click, select switches and then lock. This will lock all the events in place, effectively locking that track.

There is button in VP13 in the bottom toolbar that looks like a lock which has the same function as right click and select lock.

Also, if you double click an event it will create a loop region and the length of the region is displayed in the lower right corner. There are also 3rd party scripts/extensions that will show the length.

Xberk,

Thanks, I will try working with that to see how it functions.

The more I work with other programs (and I love Vegas Pro... well 90%), the more I'm impressed with the elegance and ease of ProTools.

Thanks for the input.

Unfortunately we bring our conceived notions from how other programs work. I never thought of double clicking on an event.

Thanks again.

".... the elegance and ease of Protools" ?!!!! That's not a phrase you hear very often !

But the Track Lock thing is a glaring omission from Vegas, and a feature that I have been begging for for possibly over a decade !

Um that would be the "Ignore Event Grouping" one, or the "Lock Envelopes To Events" ?

At least not on planet earth, where it's often refereed to as "SloTools".
