Track motion settings - how to keep for template?

Hi all,

I have multiple copies of Vegas (10) across seperate editing machines which appear to be behaving differenly.

On one copy deleting the media from the timeline does not affect the track motion settings such that any subsequent media pulled on to the timeline has the appropriate settings. This is great as I can use it as a template.

On another copy of vegas deleting the media from the timeline resets the track motion settings which is a pain.

Any ideas as to why this is the case would be greatly appreciated - I've had a look at the settings but can't find any differences.

Best wishes

Bruce

On the top menu icons next to the pope’s hat = auto cross fade is the auto ripple ell button = deselect before deleting media.

I also get this - after installing V11 511. Even after taking off 511 and a clean re-install of 9e. Ripple definitely isn't engaged!

Under Options, deselect "Lock envelopes to events".

Curious. Is there a way to copy the keyframes from a clip to a track?

Copying between clips works (save preset in the box) but it would be nice to put it on the track rather than on the clip.

I ask because I have a very high resolution still map and I'm green screening someone in front of it. They point and I move the map in for close-ups but need a super high resolution map to keep it sharp when I zoom in. Of course, my computer can barely handle this movement with such a big file. So I have made a "dummy" low resolution version for getting the keyframes correct. Then I just save the keyframes in the preset box, swap the high resolution photo for the lower photo, then paste the saved keyframes into the higher resolution clip, render it and go to bed. But I think maybe I should have used track motion in the first place.

Stick to Pan/Crop.
Track Motion scales anything to your project properties which means that, as soon as you start to zoom in, your quality will suffer.
Do you need to show the zoom in?
If not, you could have different versions of the map and cut or dissolve to the desired one.
