track motion-vegas movie studio 9

This may be a dumb question but it has puzzled me for a long time. When I use "track Motion" to create a picture-in-picture movie clip, I find that all the clips in my timeline become reduced in size. I have tried setting keyframes for the beginning and end of the smaller size video. The entire movie takes on the smaller size. I highlight one clip on the timeline, go to tools, video, track motion. Then I reduce the size of the clip, adjust its position, start and end the keyframe and exit. Then I go to check the video clip before my PIP and find it is also reduced in size. How can I make my reduced size clip confine itself to just one video clip? Thanks ginnyb

I posted more or less a related question a while back and the reply was along the lines of 'that's the way it's supposed to work'. The remedy is to put the clip(s) that you do want to be affected this way on a separate timeline.

Just as B A says, put the events (clips) on separate tracks. Track Motion, as the name indicates, affects all events on that track. Event Pan/Crop is how you affect just one event on a track.

Search the Help file, it should show how it's done.

I agree with what is beng said. However, if you really want to use one track, what you are missing is at the beginning of your timeline to set the first keyframe and then the last keyframe before you start your PIPs as a "hold". Right click on the keyframe to set it. So, this makes sure that up until the PIP events that the entire timeline is the right size. Then, you can use the track motion accordingly.

Also, as soon as the PIP finishes, remember to set the next keyframe at the standard size as "hold" as well.
