Tracking video effect with Pan

I have a clip where I used an Oval Cookie cutter as an Event (not Track) effect to isolate one moving element and put it on a black background. This uses a lot of keyframes to make sure the oval tracks the object. Worked very well.

Next I added an event Pan/Crop. I thought when I read the new features that this was going to scale the event effect, my cookie cutter. But it doesn't. The Cookie Cutter is still the same and after the Pan and Crop work the match is obviously gone.

Any suggestions?

Talking to myself. I finally tracked this down. I got this working using the Pre/Post property for the video effect. I guess the default is Post. Finding this was a little bit tricky, it being the triangle to the far left of the effect timeline in the control dialog.
