training for vegas 9?

I recently upgraded to Vegas Pro 9, but haven't really delved into it yet. In fact, even though I've had Pro 8 for a long time, I'm still very much a novice.

I have Spotted Eagle's book (for Pro 8), but I was wondering whether getting the VASST Beginner's Bundle would be a good purchase? My concerns are (1) it may be too basic, and I do understand a bit; and (2) it may be out of date, if it was created for version 6 or so.

Any opinions on this?

Also, I use Vegas for video editing, but use MemoriesOnTV for slideshows, and I use Digital Juice for lower thirds and Bluff Titler for titles, so I was wondering whether the VASST Ultimate S Lite would still be worthwhile.

Hard to say on the Vegas beginners bundle as I don't know your skill level but judging from your input, I think you will benefit from getting it. There's a lot of aspects of Vegas that you might not be exposed to that will shorten and/or improve your workflow that the bundle will introduce you to. By the way, there are several volumes specific to different tasks that you can cherry pick to enhance your skills. All of them are excellent as that is the VASST standard product. So, yeah, I'd recommend you get it.

As for Ultimate S, that's a necessary tool in my editing tool box. There many more automated tasks than the ones you mention that have not only shortened the time it takes to do them but has actually improved my product because of it's quality and flexibility. US puts them into Vegas as a tab so you don't have to go outside of Vegas to access them. So, yes again to your question about gettingf US. In fact, I'd recommend the full version instead of the Lite.
