Transferring media from one project to another?

Is it possible to transfer media from one project to another? Eg, I have a project with a lot of SF Text generated media in a project which I want to use in another. But I can't drag the media across to the new project, nor can I save it anywhere on the PC.

The only thing I can think of is to open the source project, delete all the imported video media, and save that as the new project along with the new imported video media.

I don't think there's a straight forward way to do this, but it's not too tricky to acheive.

Either keep your project organized so that any generated media is on seperate tracks to the video media, when you need to zoom out fully to select all the gen media and do a copy and paste between projects.

Or, as you suggested, delete all the vid media and save a new project, then copy and paste.

If you choose the 'Details' view in the media pool you can sort the media by type. It's then quick to delete all of the non-gen media. Select all on the timeline, copy and paste into another instance of Vegas, go to the original project and quit without saving or hit Undo.

Did you try open 2 vegas and copy from one to another?. Some said that can be done.

It can be done.

An update to my post above:

1) open 2 instances of Vegas
2) in the source project, go to the media pool and view the media by type (double click on the 'Type' header).
3) select all of the generated media listed in the media pool. NOTE: you can't drag and select, so you have to use shift +left click or Ctrl+left click to select mulitple listings.
4) Right click on the media pool selection and choose 'select timeline events'.
5) Hit Alt+0 (zero) to focus to the timeline. Hit Ctrl+C to copy the media events to clipboard.
6) Go to the second instance of Vegas and hit Ctrl+V to paste the media events into the new clipboard.

Select what you want to copy in first instance.
Ctrl+c
Go to second instance, select the track you want to paste copied segment in \ place your cursor where you want it to be pasted
Ctrl+v
Bingo.

You can always save the text as a preset. Then it will always be available whenever you open a new project.
