digigroup wrote on 3/19/2005, 11:04 PM
hi,
i created transition file and i can only applied it to the scence selection menu. when i tried to applied the transition to the main menu it doesnt work.

in example, at the main menu, there are two button that i created:

*play video - transition wont work on this button
*scence selection - transition wont work on this button

but when i go into the scence selection menu: the transition work on this sub-menu when i click each chapter it show my transition and go to the chapter i want.

my question is: what can i do to make that two button on the main menu to work with transition. i know there is a way but i dont know.

much appreciated.
thanks,

Select scenes button link to transition, End action of transition link to Select scenes menu.

What steps did you take to set up these transistions in DVDA?

You say that the transistion videos for the Play Video and Scene Selection buttons "won't work" -- exactly what happens? Are you unable to set up the links, or do the transitions get skipped, or does nothing happen at all?

Tell us what what it says in the End Action section of each of the (non-working) buttons' Button Properties section.

On the main parent menu there are two button, 1) play 2) scence selection.

under the button properties -> action:

- Command : Link
- Destination: Scence Selection (page...)
- Destination Chapter: N/A
(notice that the top three options doesnt let me change and select. if i can have these three option i can able to do it like in the sub menu)
- Destination: Default (option tab: link to my transition files)
- Set Audio stream: no change
- set subtitles stream: no change

all the way down to End Action section:
- command: loop
- timeout: N/A
- button: N/A

thats exactly how its appeared, i wish i could send you the picture.

thanks guys.

Ah yes. See, once you've added a button linking to a menu, DVDA won't let you change the destination for that button. I imagine it has its reasons, but I don't know what they are, and it's a bit annoying.

I believe the solution would be as follows:

In the Project Overview window, select the folder icon for your scene selection menu and drag it up to the root directory of your project (onto the disc icon). This takes the scene selection button off of your main menu and puts it into "limbo." You're doing this because you don't really want a button linking to the scene selection menu -- you want a button linking to the transition video.

Then insert the transition video you want onto the main menu. Format this button and link the video's end action to the scene selection menu. Note that you'll have to fix the Return to Main button that's on the scene selection menu, 'cause we broke it by disconnecting it from the main menu. Perhaps you want another transition video here.

Or
Start project, insert movie to Main menu (it will be "play all). Now select movie in Project Overview window and choose insert scene selection menu, thus created "Select scenes" button in Main menu.
Drag & drop transition movie to the root of project in Project Overview window. Go to Main menu "Select scenes" button and change link from "Select scenes" (page1) to transition movie. End Action of transition movie set to "Select scenes" (page1)

Re-read Bryant's last post and my response. What you suggest cannot be done because when you insert a scene selection menu, the default button for it will not allow you to change its button action -- the settings for Command, Destination, and Destination Chapter are all grayed out.

Rob you are right, i tried your way and it's working but i am having problem re-linking and re-organizing the menu, because when you put the movie into "limbo" mode like you said, all the link are messed up.

i havent work on it fully, been busy with school, but tomorrow i should be able to tell you guys know if its all working out.

but thnks everybody for helping. i appreciated.
