Transparent background

I have a vector image that I created with CorelDraw that contains a transparent background. What is the best way to import this image into VV so that the transparent background remains? I've tried to save the file into several different formats (.tga, .png, .jpg) and verified that I checked the "Transparent Background". However, when I import these into VV, I get a solid background. The only thing I found to work was to save the file as a PhotoShop (.psd) file, open the file in Photoshop, erase the background, and save the file. If I then import the PhotoShop file into VV, all is well.

Any hints on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Don Sanders

PNG is a good format to use for transparency in Vegas. when you open the PNG in photoshop, does it have its transparent background? if not, then the problem is Corel Draw.

BTW - .jpg does not have any transparency

Thanks for the info. As it turns out, within the original CorelDraw file, the bottom most layer is transparent. When I exported the file out as a .png file, I assumed that the "bottom most layer" was the same as the "background" and thus would appear transparent. However, while exporting the file, you need to explicity pick what is transparent. The choises are "None", "Image Color" (where you pick a specific color, or "Masked Area". The default is "None". Thats why I was not seeing the transparency from within VV!
