Trial Limitations?

Sierra Nomad Photography wrote on 5/17/2009, 7:05 AM
Greetings:

I presently have Movie Studio and need more flexibility (I have Uleads Media Studio Pro, but it's not Vista compatible), but want to be able to try Pro 9 out. Can anyone tell me what the limitations are on the trial version, i.e. any features that don't work; how long the trial version functions, etc?

Thank you,

Jon

I think it all works for 30 days.

I'm not sure that's true... or maybe they have changed it?

It used to be that you couldn't export AC3 or import/edit any of the mpeg formats for lack of AC3 and mpeg encoders.

Help doesn't work in the 64 bit version of Vegas Pro 9 trial, The AC3 works on mine - but I have a registered copy of DVDA 5.0b installed -Some mpeg files don't import.

Ulead Media Studio Pro was the first NLE I owned years & years ago.
As I'm sure you've seen with Movie Studio... the SCS software & workflow is a lot better.

What I would suggest is that you download the Trial of Vegas Pro 9, Duplicate your Media Studio project then import/open it in VP9. This way you can edit & export the way you would like. This will allow you to see if any of the limitations of the Trial will affect you in your workflow. You then have 30 days to play with VP9 and get comfortable before deciding what your next step should be as far as the purchase.

Judging by your name 'Sierra Nomad Photography' I would say that you may also benefit from the nice Scripts that are available in VP9. Especially if you do Photo Montages.

Thanks to everyone.

sync2rhythm: I also have found that Sony is so much more user friendly than MSP. I didn't know that you could open an MSP project in VP9. That's great news! Thanks for your help.
