Trial version fails to load, error code -57

mrassau wrote on 12/19/2019, 12:14 PM

Hey guys,

I have Vegas 14 installed on my system and I want to test the trial version of Vegas 17. It installs just fine, but every time I want to start, I get the message "Error code -57, you have no license"
I searched the forum and renamed the OFX folder already, no change.

My system is Win 7 64bit. Any ideas?

Seems, Magix doesn't want my money :D

Did you activated that Trial at Magix?
Normally after activation for the first time for a certain trial of 30 days you get an activation number you have to fill-in at the first start of that Trial version.

Thanks for your help!

Well... no. I just downloaded the trial version from the Magix website, installed it and that's it. I didn't have to register anywhere?!
Did I miss something?
There isn't even a popup window which asks me for an activation number after installing and starting. The first I get to see after starting Vegas 17 is a small "Error code -57" message.

Here... That's all I got to see from Vegas 17

Not sure what would be going on here, but the first thing I would check is your internet connection or a potential firewall that is unable to connect to the registration server.

I would also add that, since you are running Windows 7 (which is not supported), I would check to make sure you have all the current updates for your OS. If all else fails, uninstall and install again.

Thanks for your help too, but I can confirm that there isn't a Firewall or connection problem.

Win 7 isn't supported anymore? Didn't know that. But then there should be a "Your OS is too old" message in my opinion :D
Did many (Un)Installs already.

And WHY didn't MAGIC tell us Windows 7 was not supported?  We wasted hours and hours, and have customers waiting.

@Anita-Berry The specs for each version of Vegas are listed on the product pages, Windows 7 has not been supported for several versions as you can see because this post is dated from 2019.
