Trimmed audio/video out of sync

Hi all, I'm new to Vegas4 and seem to be having problems with audio and video getting out of sync when I trim a segment in trimmer and paste to tracklist window. Basically I have a 2hr mpeg2 capture with mpeg sound and I am grabbing a 30min segment from the middle. When segment is played back in the tracklist window audio gets futher and further off as it plays. Original 2hr capture is in sync. System is AMD2500, 512MB, NForce2 MB, 120GB 7200prm drive. I would appreciate any help.

MPEG source material can be freaky in a number of ways, including sync. Your best bet is to recapture as .avi, or, if you can't do that, render the entire clip as DV .avi.

Check your source files. I spent an agonizing two weeks to figure out that Vegas didn't like my source file (Mpeg-2 format) and the final render process messed up. I use Mpeg-1 for source now, and it works great.
