Trimmer "Go to In Point/Out Point" keyboard shortcut

KDJack wrote on 12/12/2025, 12:55 PM

Right, so, in other NLEs, the ability to go to the in point/out point direct via keyboard shortcut is vital to insuring the exact frames are selected to be placed in the timeline. Vegas Pro 23 doesn't seem to have those shortcuts (e.g., Shit + I (Go to in point), Shift + O (Go to out point).

I'm really, really amazed on how such a basic feature is omitted from your software. It's really amazing. Who's in charge of UI/UX at MAGIX/Vegas Pro? These features have been available in Premiere and other NLEs for almost 15 years.

I'll be blunt - whomever's in charge of UI/UX of Vegas Pro needs to be fired immediately. To omit basic functionality like this is literal stupidity (or laziness.)

It is a necessary key for Premiere users.

I've got Vegas pro 23 build 302. I've googled the vp23 shortcuts and its not there

jetdv wrote on 12/12/2025, 2:47 PM

If you have a selection area on the timeline, HOME and END will take you to the beginning/end of that selection area. "In/Out" typically means creating a selection area so try Home and End. If you do not have a selection area, Home and End will take you to the beginning/end of the project.

@KDJack Alt-Home and Alt-End

Thanks @Robert Johnston! I'm using VP 23 - why isn't it this command listed on the shortcuts website? Alt+Home/Alt+End isn't there! They haven't even updated their website!

KDJack wrote on 12/13/2025, 12:40 AM

@Robert Johnston I spoke too soon....it appears not to work consistently...one second Alt+Home was taking me to the end point, a few seconds later, it took me back to the beginning of the clip even though the end and out points were still there. It's just buggy shit....lazy, buggy - no. Frustrating garbage. I'm really, really leaning toward going back to Adobe at this point. I get consistency and predictability. This shit is like a gamble....you don't know what you're gonna get from one minute to the next..

What do you mean by "in and out points"? I've tested in the trimmer and on the timeline. I and O will create a selection area. HOME and END will take you to those two endpoints. HOME to go to the I location and END to go to the O location. I see no reason to hold down "ALT".

@jetdv Which is also described in the Vegas keyboard shortcuts documentation:

To me it seems that @KDJack likes to blame Vegas for his incompetence instead of kindly asking for help. Such users I normally ignore.

@jetdv You are right. No need for the Alt key. I guess that was a fluke that it worked for me.

@KDJack

The way you ranted on was unnecessary, all you had to do is simply ask for assistance. As you can see it was given to you all very politely and helpfully. Do the right thing and apologize to both the Magix/Vegas Pro team and the guys on this page for your bad behavior especially calling (a member of) Vegas team to be fired, stupid and lazy.... Without a doubt the last two refers to yourself.....Merry Christmas "Gringe"
