Trimmer madness?

Been using the trimmer for a while time now. Just now I thought I'd try using it the most logical way. Enter T/C as the in/out points ( I have an EDL).
Well unless I'm already nuts it's going to drive me nuts.
Enter in-point T/C and it seems to want to adjust out-point based on existing duration. Enter out-point and it changes the in-point based on duration.
Well OK, I just figured out how to get the trimmer to play nice, collapse the in/out points ("i","o") first, maybe there's some option in the prefs to change this behavior?
While I'm having a trimmer moment, why doesn't the state of the trimmer get saved?
Why does the trimmer history contain things I've never opened in the trimmer?
Good grief, a trimmer seems to be such a basic editing tool, I've only recently fallen in love with the thing and now I see it's only been 90% finished, it's almost like it got designed before Vegas became a video editor and has never been looked at since.

Thank you for listening, feeling better now.
Bob.

and there i was thinking it was just me...

there are some very strange, illogical settings scattered here and there...

what i'm dreading is when one of my clients moves to hd and i'm still forced to work from a paper cut edl. don't mind grabbing the whole tape for 2mins of footage, after all, he's paying for my time, but to chop out the scenes using the trimmer could be quite a painful process
