As a rookie (new version) Pro 23 user, I am struggling with Trimming & Clipping short portions of video from longer material, and then interspersing these clips with still photos into my presentation timeline. A Beginner Tutorial helped a bit, but I still struggle.

@John-Wilkinson6913 I'm currently doing a series of tutorials on the absolute basics of Vegas Pro use. The first one deals with cutting, trimming and moving clips on the timeline, but, I haven't finished it yet.
So, for what you want to do:-
Select the clip you want to cut and place the cursor where you want to cut. Press S.
Now grab the second part of the clip and move it away down the timeline. You may have to turn Ripple Editing on if you have clips further down the timeline.
Locate your image and drag it onto the timeline after the first part of your split clip Drag the image so that it joins the first part. If you want a transition, pull it over the first part to create a cross fade. Open up the transitions tab and select a suitable transition. Pull it down onto the cross fade. Move the second part of the split clip back to the end of the image and create a cross fade. Apply a transition in the same way.
Repeat this procedure.
I hope this helps.
