Please help! Another frustrated individual trying to convert vhs tapes to pc to video factory through sony dv camcorder. My problem is I am not getting picture and sound to sony dv camcorder, so therefore all that video factory is capturing is blank. What am I doing wrong. Thanks for any help!
Not all cameras allow passthrough. My Sony allows me to playback from my computer and output to VHS through the Video Audio In/Out,but I cannot capture. As soon as I hook up the firewire, it goes to a blue screen regardless of what is on the Input connectores.
Hummer, can you record from VHS to your DV camcorder? If so, you could do that first, then play back the DV tape and capture from that. It will take you twice as long (sorry), but it won't be any worse quality than if the pass-through worked directly.
I'm fairly sure that all the newer Sony models with A/V inputs will pass-through. Set your camera to VCR mode, then go into the camera's setup menus and find a menu item called A/V->DV OUT. Set it to ON. Then in the VideoFactory capture preferences, make sure that DV device control is unchecked. You should now be able to play anything through the Sony and have it pass-through.
Does the Canon Elura allow for pass-through? I tried with RCA plugs from my VCR, but it I couldn't get pass-through to work, so I recorded to the camera first, then captured the footage from the camera. The camera does have an Svideo-in. Is that the key, to use that? Do you use Svideo for video and RCA plugs for audio? Thanks.
