Trouble opening Handbrake files in Vegas?

Symptoms: Video won't open, throws an exception, or levels are wrong,

Solution: After working with the HB developers, a fix* for all Vegas versions (at least VP 8 forward), is available in the Handbrake nightly builds and will be included in the next major release.

Disclaimer: Not all High Profile** features may be supported, esp. in earlier Vegas versions. It's a Vegas limitation involving some advanced compression schemes. Better to use Main Profile anyway, as it is more fluid on the Vegas timeline.

Awesome. Nice work.

Beyond a quirky Vegas decoder, I don't know what all issues it might cause but it is good they have gotten away from ISOM as the major brand ID. ISOM was depreciated a long time ago.

This page shows the ISO addendums excerpts as well as direct links to relevant the ISO documents if one so desires.

From my reading, isom was a red herring, a holdover from the earliest open-source avc codecs, and I don't know how it made its way back into libav 9 and 10. Also, we know that FileIOSurrogate in Vegas is / has been notoriously picky about names and file extensions. Better to look at what's in a file than how it's named.
