So when i start vegas pro 8, it lets me know there is an update that will fix a lot of the problems. So i hit the link, and download it, but then after i download it and choose to run it, it brings up an error message that says it is "not a valid win32 application?" Is it my computer or do i need to open it in a different manner? I'm lost, any help would be greatly appreciated!

The download was probably corrupt, try it again.

i considered that, i redownloaded it only to experience the same results. I have windows xp, is the update only for vista?
Thanks for your reply!

Are you having any problems installing anything else beside Vegas?
Does your original install of Vegas 8 still run?
Have you added any drivers or had other system problems lately?

So when i start vegas pro 8, it lets me know there is an update that will fix a lot of the problems.

DId you download 8.0c ? .. If so, it will run on XP or Vista.
One way to check your XP system would be to run sfc /scannow...google on this to find out how to do it.
But if other applications are installing with no problem and you system is free of corruption, the problem may be in the registry which can be very difficult to find and fix.

Bad news is this --- I had a similar problem installing Vegas 8.1. The only cure was to backup the drive data, nuke the drive and reinstall Windows and then reinstall ALL my drivers and software and THEN 8.1 installed smoothly. I never found out what the problem was really. And all the best brains on this forum said "just do a fresh install of wndows".....Hopefully your problem will not lead to this!

Did the second download go a lot faster than the first? If so, it was probably cached and your system decided to not bother re-downloading...it just used the first.

It's also possible to get a cached copy from a proxy server in the path (like at your ISP).

Thanks guys! It turns out i downloaded it at work, and i noticed it took quite a bit longer to download. So i saved it to my memory card, took it home and it ran perfectly. For some reason i think you are right, it was a bad download from my home, and it didn't bother to redownload it. I appreciate all your replies!!!
