Troubles while recording if Output bus has effect

JeremyT wrote on 6/12/1999, 3:00 AM
I have a stereo track1 on bus A
I have a steteo track2 on bus B
I have a (Cakewalk) stereo reverb on Bus 1
I have all track Effects disabled (EG, Comp)
I attempt to recored a new stereo track3
the results are bad. very stuttery.

also

If I record a new audio track on a project with a video file
and If I continue to record after the video file has ended,
Meters and clock begin to stutter

you might want to also mention your present system configuration... sounds to me like a
processor overload due to DX plugin utilization. on my old k6-200 there were a few DX plugs
that could choke the system and make it "stutter" when used in realtime.

No thats not it;

Celery 500* (333), 256MB ECC-CAS-2, 40GB Fasttrack RAID
Array (128K block, 32K format), Dakota, Montana, (2X
Tango24), Trident 9750 Agp, SBLive

With Cakewalk:
I can easily playback over 64 24 bit tracks.
I can easily have 6 Reverbs playing on 16 Tracks, while
recording 4.
I Max out at 116 Tracks (16bit 44.1)
My sustained HD throuput is 23MB/S -I get peaks jumping
into the 40's.

I got the same problem.

Pentium II 300MHz, 128MB SIMM 100MHz, 6GB EIDE UltraDMA,
Trident 9750 AGP and KORG 1212 I/O

Trying to playback 1 stereo track and 1 mono track and
record a stereo track without any effects, just sending the
different Korg outputs mixing in a O3D and sending it back
through the Korg. I got stuttered and with a recording with
clicks.
Using Cakewalk Pro Audio 8.0 I've done tasks much more
demanding and don't have this kind of problem.

I solved the my problem, maybe this can help other users.

I just increased the PLAYBACK BUFFERING from 0,25sec to
0,50sec (this is in the menu OPTIONS/PREFERENCES under the
AUDIO folder), this makes it less responsive but I could
record 8 stereo tracks playing back another stereo track
without any problem.
