troubling rendering to .avi type

Hi there. I am running into trouble while I render my
video as an .avi file. My video is only 14 minutes long,
is comprised of pictures and a few songs - and when I
render the movie, it stops only after a few seconds of
video time and already the file is around 2GBs of disk
space. What is wrong with what I am doing? Should
something this small in length be more than 2GBs?!! Thanks.

Glevine,

It sounds like your rendering with an inappropriate
template, probably either AVI uncompressed or DV. You'll
need to change the format or properties. Do this one of two
ways:

1. Click the "FILE" menu.
2. Click "PROPERTIES".
3. On the "VIDEO" tab, click the pull-down "TEMPLATE" menu.
4. Choose something other than a DV template (try Video CD,
for kicks).
5. Hit "OK".
6. Render your movie, and see if it's under time.

Or do it this way...

1. Click the "FILE" menu.
2. Click "RENDER AS".
3. When the dialogue comes up, change the file format (SAVE
AS TYPE) to something beside AVI. Try MOV, or RM, or MPG.
These are compressed formats that take up less space.
Fiddle around with different templates and see which one
floats your boat best.

That'll do it. Just remember to use some kind of compressed
codec to avoid disk space problems.

Best wishes,
Nick LaMartina
