trv720 as media converter question

Just starting out with Vegas and got a TRV720 to use as a media converter.
Firewire card installed is OHCI IEEE 1394a compliant and is 4-pin to 6-pin cable. I got the card with Vegas.

I cannot see how the firewire cable will fit into the TRV720 camcorder. The shape of the female plug on camcorder is not the same. Do I need an adapter?

Thanks much.

Are you sure you not looking at the USB port?

Nope. I'm looking at the firewire cable right now. The side that goes into the firewire card plug in is a tiny bit shorter than a USB connector. It fits right into the newly installed firewire card. The other side is smaller with one side V- notched. It will not fit into the camera receptor. It is not the same shape.

I have a TRV720, and no problem with mine. Have you found the hidden firewire connector behind the plastic peel off door at the rt. side front of the camera ? If not, look in your manual. Sometimes these connectors can provide a somewhat sloppy fit, but the receptacle in your camera body should look like the connector at the end of your firewire cable. Sounds like you're looking in the wrong place.
