Try my FLV's if you please

Nick's http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=583836&Replies=14Link[/link] got me interested in trying out different formats on my webpage. If anyone can check out one of my http://www.refproductions.com/Concert_DVD.htmlwebpages[/link], I added FLV's and I'm not sure if they'll work. The page should open with 4 concert scenes at the bottom, but you should have to click play on each to start each one separately.

They opened. But the whole site took probably 60 seconds to load all the other images on the page.

The flv's look ok. You can clearly see the little square lines that is typical of some flash encodes, as if you're looking at it through a wire mesh screen door.

All four FLV's (SWF files, actually) worked for me, but the site did take a good 45-seconds to load the first time. Yahoo Sitebuilder may be the problem. The banjo/mandolin group was the best in audio and video quality and the girls band the worst. The latter might benefit from multi-pass encoding. The rock band may have been so loud that they were bottoming out one of your mics.

Generally a well done site.

All 4 worked for me. I think the slow page load is because of the 4 flash movies. All 4 of them are downloading at the same time even though they aren't playing. As proof of concept, it all works and looks decent - much better than what people are seeing on Youtube, but then Youtube is making everyone else look good, bless them.

You'd probably get better performance by letting people open just one movie at a time in a separate page. If you like the look of 4 movie players on your home page you could probably fake that.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I'm experimenting with flv as it's new to me. I just wanted to make sure that the flv's were actually opening, but I definitely need to experiment more with settings. The tapings were done in DV via Sony 2100's before I went to HD cameras, so I have a little more room to increase the quality... I think I set it about medium quality inside Adobe Flash Video Encoder (The female band doesn't have much of a shot with improving the audio, as the issue was the site itself.). And, yes, it was done with Yahoo SiteBuilder (not much of a web-builder), so my options are limited.

I think the videos do the job and you don't need to worry about quality as much as presentation. Put the movies on their own pages and the page performance should pick up just fine. As far as movie quality goes, at a certain point the content is more important than the quality.

If the movies were on their own pages you could up the encoding quality and probably not suffer a performance hit.

Ditto all 4 worked for me. I noticed that all four were streaming at once in the background...that may lead to some lag on slower systems. My VOIS connection had no problem with it.
