Trying out VMS16 but it's crashing a lot

Long time Movie Studio user (originally Sony VMS 4, then upgraded to HD Platinum 11)

I'm trying out VMS 16 Platinum, but it's crashing even when simply editing a wave file.

I have i7-7700, 16GB RAM, Intel HD 630 on-chip graphics, 256 GB SSD, 6 TB hard drive on Windows 10 Home

I regularly run Adobe products, Cakewalk audio production software without issue, and run VMS 11 without issue. I wanted MVS 16 to use the 4K files from my new camera, but again, it hanged when working with a simple wave file.

Any thoughts on what I can check to see if my system is up to snuff? Do I really need a dedicated GPU?

Thanks

A trial can only render 2 minutes of video and audio.
Did you use proxyfiles for your 4K video, from which you gave no mediaproperties?

What do you with that audiofile at the moment the software crashes?
I use 4 K video on the same kind of hardware from signature without a problem.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know it may not be a hardware issue. Yes, I'm aware of the 2-min limitation, but the hang occurred while I was editing. FWIW, I setup the same session in VMS11 and got the job done.

4K editing crashed too, and yes, VMS started making proxy files as soon as I imported them. I eventually got the edit done, but lost the first session after a crash and had to do it again. Seems OK now, but I'm hesitant to purchase if the program is this unstable.
