Trying To Convert 16:9 Back To Widescreen

Okay, I guess that sounds contradictory. I was sent some video that was shot in 16:9 but was rendered as 4:3. I need to stretch it back out to the proper ratio but I'm embarrassed to admit I can't figure out how to do that in Vegas. I've tried playing with the project properties and all I've been able to do is change the frame size but not the aspect ratio of the image IN the frame. I've also tried rendering in WS and all I get is the same 4:3 but in a wider, windowboxed frame.

I'm sure I'm missing something amazingly obvious but I'm stuck on what to try next. Any ideas?

Thanks!

If the video fills the 4:3 frame, it was cropped to do so and no recovery of the lost width is possible.

Right click on the media (on the timeline). Select Properties, and then either uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio" under the video event tab or change the pixel aspect ratio under the Media tab.

Yay! Unchecking that tiny box solved my problem. Thanks!!
