Trying to Print Video to DV Tape?

jhubs wrote on 12/30/2002, 9:42 PM
Can I print my video back to my DV CanonZR45 through my 1394 card/firewire cable if my video was origionally captured in the MPEG format? I have burned 20 great DVDs and I want to make some VCR tapes too. So far, I have tried rendering (in NTSC DV)several different times and at the end I get the following window message "Error occured while creating the media file error 0x8007001f (message missing)" every time. Am I out of luck?

Are you running Vegas 3.0c? If not, upgrade. If you are, try reinstalling it and overwriting the files as you do. I seem to recall reading about this problem before on this forum. Has something to do with the audio files I think.

I get the same error when trying to render to .wma so I can upload a preview to our website. Seems like I can render to any other file format ... just not the one I want, but same exact error.

I am running Vegas 3.0c. The 1394 card I have came from my previous Video Program that was junk (Pinnacle Studio Deluxe 8) I uninstalled the drivers of the 1394 card from Pinnacle and reinstalled from my Windows XP. That is all I know to do. I suppose I could take out this card and reinstall the origional 1394 card that came with my computer. I just want to know what to try so I can get a VCR tape. Maybe the easiest would to burn a VCR tape from a DVD/VCR dubbing unit and skip the print to tape process. But, that would not solve this problem , and I like solving problems....except in Pinnacle and that's impossible!

craftech, What do you mean, "overwright the files"?

When you re-install the program it may ask you if you want to keep some of the files or over-write (replace them ). Say yes so all of the existing files are replaced even if they are identical or older.

Thanks, I'll try this today. I have been reading some of the older Forum Topics and this seem to be a strong possibility. I brought my movie over from Pinnacle and it worked great in Vegas. Maybe some of the clips or audio files are the problem.

Why not play back the DVD and record to VCR from that? I can't imagine anymore quality loss than there would be trying to create a DV file from MPEG.

Just a thought.

Dave T2, Right, that has crossed my mind several times as a final solution. I just want to know why and how I can make the print to tape function work, if now for now but in the future. My computer set up is OK, I think, I have a feeling the problem stems from the Pinnacle 8 program that the video was produced in origionally. I'll do the uninstall-reinstall now and if that does not work I will try to record on the VCR from the DVD player.

Hey Dave T2, You seem to be a real expert here and I am just a beginner (2 months in the home vid biz). Would I be better off taking out the Pinnacle 1394 card and reinstalling the one that came with my HP? Or, by uninstalling the Pinnacle drivers from it and installing the Windows drivers to it, does that take care of any problems that might come up? Also, should I take that "BLUE BOX" off the card?
