trying to remove offline media from project

target wrote on 3/23/2025, 5:56 PM

so after i was done with editing my video, etc. i deleted the gameplay footage that i used for my project in file explorer.

i use this template in vegas pro that i made for making videos to speed up my workflow. i have subclips in my "Custom Bins" called SFX, music and videos which is just videos and sound effects i chopped up so that i won't have to trim the audio and stuff every time i open a new project to make a video for youtube.

the offline media at the top with the name "2025-..." is what im trying to delete without my subclips getting deleted. it's just annoying that every time i load up my template, it says the "missing files" warning because i deleted my game footage.

i tried the "Remove All Unused Media From Project" feature but that just deletes my subclips as well because they're not in the timeline.

if anyone has a fix for this i would appreciate it so much thanks!! :)

@target Hi, subclips have to be rendered out separately as individual files. They're a bit like 'temp' sections of your orig, so if you delete the orig the Subclip has nothing the refer to.

Yep, subclips are only pointers to areas of the original video. You need to keep the original video as part of the project or render out the subclips separately.
