I last used Vegas 13 years ago and am now getting back into creating some slide shows. Purchased Vegas Pro 23 and got out my Contour ShuttlePro V2. For the life of me I cannot get it to work. I tried various versions of the contour program (2.13.5 and 2.13.3) without success.
If there is someone out there that could give me some suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
I'm running Windows 11 Pro, 32GB RAM, Intel Ultra 7 155H, GeForce RTX 4050 w/ 6GB.
First of all, let me assure you, contour shuttle pro V2 does work on windows 11 pro + VP23.
I use it every day. I am at version 2.13.5
That being said, you do need to do some configs to make it work on programs (any programs for that matter). It does not work on new Vegas releases out-of-the-box without some config.
Now here is the tricky part, I always forget the exact steps on how to make it work, but basically you point the device to the ".exe " when Vegas is in focus (usually : C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 23.0\vegas230.exe).
For the contour buttons and functions there is a default preference file you can use if you do not want to create your own preferences, and it is located in:
C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 23.0\VEGAS Pro 23 -- ShuttlePro v2.pref
One extra tip, change the JKL / shuttle speed to FAST in Vegas preference panel (in the "edit" tab)
Hi Bitman. Thanks for your suggestion. So, I have all buttons, etc. setting working now except for one thing. Whenever I restart my computer, the program "shutterhelper.exe" does not appear in my system tray or in Show Hidden Items. And it is not listed in Background Processes in Task Manager. It does not create a link with Vegas Pro. I've created a shortcut to the shuttlehelper.exe file and run that each time I use Vegas. Sort of a weird work around.
@gcg That is odd, I have the shuttlehelper.exe in the windows startup apps and it launches at startup and in the tray.
Maybe reinstall or add a new windows task in the startup apps. Weird, I do not recall I had to do something specific for that, but It was such a long time (many years) that I have this contour on different Vegas and subsequent windows updates and versions I may have forgotten I did something peculiar.
Perhaps some anti-virus sw prevents a proper install?
Not having an installed application starting up at restart is rare, I usually have to ban applications (that I do not use often) to launch at start!

Hi Bitman! Thanks for your suggestions above. I used the Shuttle on and off for years in previous versions of Vegas.
I just installed Windows 11 on a new SSD och reinstalled Vegas and everything from scratch. Now I try to get Contour Shuttle Pro v2 to work with Vegas. Turns out Contour has launched a new control panel, more modern but I can't get aorund it. It's called Contour Design Multimedia Control Panel. See image.
I installed it (and I'm pretty sure it includes the device driver) and of course it doesn't work out of the box so managed to create a new application specific behavior for Vegas 23, directing it to Vegas 23 exe. But I don't see any way to get the buttons working. You wrote the above about the pref file and I find it there, but what do I do with it? Should I copy and paste it somewhere?
If you are not sure, are you here @Grazie ? You're the Contour expert around here, right?
