I've been writing some tutorials. While intended for Vegas Video the basics are the same for Video Factory. I haven't used Video Factory for well over a year so I'm rusty on what it includes and what it don't. I also uploaded a couple sample videos so far over at Chienworks' site.

Regarding the monitor tutorial, I have VF2, do I have to upgrade to Vegas to get access to the colour bars and grey charts?

If they aren't included with Video Factory you can find other charts on the Web you can use. There are also a few DVD's out that offer similar kinds of calibration.
