tweaking the sync of 2 camera edits?

Say I've got a project that consists of a two-camera comedy performance. As I usually do, I lay the tight shot on the top track, and the wide shot on the second track...then I sync the two together using the audio tracks. Then I chop up the top envelope to cut between the two angles. No problem. Let's say the edit has been completed, but I notice that the chopped up top track is slightly out of sync. Oops. How would I adjust the video sync slightly WITHOUT moving the chopped envelopes?

I realize that with a 2-track edit like this it would be easiest to just tweak the solid bottom envelope to match the chopped envelope...but what if I have 5 tracks with chops all over the place?

You can insert/delete time on the head of the track to adjust sync if it is out consistently on the whole track.

Wouldn't that move the envelopes too?

Okay, I see the issue. How far out of sync is it? Enough to screw up the edit with the envelopes?

If the stuff you want to move is a single clip with just a composite envelope, what's wrong with selecting it and nudging the clip in the proper direction a frame at a time (with quantize to frames on, use 1/3 on the numeric keypad)? By default, the envelope points will stay put, but you can verify this by making sure the "lock envelopes to events" button on the toolbar is unselected. If there are a number of clips on the target track, use range tools or "select to end" commands to select all of them and then use the 1/3 shortcut keys to slide them all at once in the desired direction one frame at a time.

I used to use enevlopes for multi camera editing but now I use the Marty Helder technique.

Where do I find information of Marty's technique?

Marty's site is at http://www.martyhedler.com/homepage/Vegas_Tutorials.html
