Two line Subtitles from Vegas to DVDA

I've just used the Subtext script from VASST to export Regions from Vegas as Subtitles in DVDA. The attraction of this script was the use of vertical line "|" to create two line subtitles

It all worked pretty well, but the line break in the two line subtitles was not always where I put the "|" - it seemed to fill up the first line regardless then put the rest on the second line. I had to go through the Text Events in DVDA and change them manually.

I did put a space either side of the "|" in the Region names, so this may have contributed to the result.

Is there something I could have done better?

Hmmm... I don’t see how the line breaks could be coming out anywhere but where you placed the vertical bar (|). I just checked the code in SubText and all it does is scan for a | and replace it with a carriage return. Spaces around it should not affect it but are not needed. DVD Architect will wrap a long line so perhaps you are seeing the word wrapping in addition to the line break you added?

I just did a fresh trial export/import (484 subtitles!) and everything was fine, so the losing of the line breaks must have happened sometime after import into DVDA. I did change font size and I selected sections of text to change Colour Set, but these operations shouldn't have changed things, but something happened somewhere - I still have the saved project with the incorrect line breaks - but it will have to remain a mystery for now. Thanks again, and thanks for the Script.

(Incidentally, another mystery was that I had the same movie on two different menus, and DVDA correctly realised that it didn't need to double the space used, yet whilst I was adjusting subtitles on one instance, the Disc Space Used suddenly jumped from 3.0 Gb to 4.5Gb, and in File/Optimize there was the same Clip listed twice! - anyway, all is fixed now ...)

I recently experienced the same thing after importing a subtitle file exported from Vegas using SubText (542 subtitles). For some reason, the carriage returns SubText inserted was not being recognized. I thought it was possibly a bug in SubText, so I decided to do some testing before reporting it.

After doing some small import/export tests, which worked fine, I once again tried to re-import the original subtitle file. This time, it was perfect! I'm not sure what happened, but it appears to be a DVDA issue as opposed to a SubText issue. In the future, if I ever have this issue again, I'll just close and restart DVDA, as that proved to solve some of the issues.

As for the project size estimation issues, I am not surprised. On my test builds of this DVD, the project size showed as 5.5GB when all I had in the project was a 3.5GB MPEG-2 file and the imported subtitles! I figure I know what I'm putting into the project and I don't pay attention to the estimation.
