Two problems - could use some help!

I have a project that I have rendered in Sony Vegas 10 and that I have taken into Architect. Can anyone help me with two queries (I am very much a novice).

1 If I find a problem with a clip when watching it in the Preview in Vegas, is there any way I can edit the clip in Architect, or do I have to go back to Vegas and render the whole thing again?

2. I have used one of the background pictures provided in Architect and it looks good on my screen. But when I view the finished video on a TV set, the background picture doesn't appear at the start of my video - instead the video starts with an ugly turquoise colour criss-crossed with lines.

Any assistance much appreciated.

1. You'd be best re-opening your video in Vegas. If you're video has already been rendered, I know of no way for your to "fix" an edit in DVD Architect.

2. I have no idea why you're seeing an ugly turquoise criss-crossed with lines. Does this image exist at all in the menu structure you created in DVD Architect?

If not, it must be something that's not feeding right in your disc player.

I have not created any menus in my project, so don't think that can be the problem. I chose the beach scene for the background, it appears without problem in the Architect window but there's no sign of it when I have made the DVD and play it.

Something is very wrong. Most likely with your DVD player, which may be having problems playing your home-burned DVD.

Download VLC Player. It's probably the best DVD player available for Windows.

Select the option to open a folder. (Make sure you select folder, not file.) The browse to the VIDEO_TS that's DVD Architect created as a prepared file when you burned your disc.

if you can't find that, you can use VLC Player to play the disc itself on your computer.

Do you see this ugly turquoise thing? Most likely not -- which would indicate that it is not a glitch on the DVD disc itself.

If there's no menu there's nowhere for the background to display, as it's the background for a menu.

Thanks for all the info Steve - I'm away from home for a few days and I'll try what you say when I return - but have tried the disc on other DVD players and they all display it the same.

I'll also try using a menu as per your instructions, Tog, and see if that will display the background. Pity that there's no idiot-proof step by step instructions available with such a versatile programme. The ones supplied don't go far beyond the very basics.

Though, as TOG62 points out, the single thing that really doesn't make sense at all is how you're able to use the beach scene as a background when you claim you don't have a menu! That's kind of not possible.

If you don't have a menu, your video will play as soon as your disc is inserted into your player. Where are you putting this beach scene?

Also, what are you seeing when you play the files or the disc with the VLC Player, as I suggested above?
