Two questions I need help for Dv capture.

1. When using the vid capture program, there is nothing to beable to change what the file gets recorded in at.I am recording video from a standard vcr(hifi).
Ntsc is all i see this to be recorded at.
After editing, you are supposed to render at the same settings you recorded at.
That would mean ntsc. What about compression settings?
I have been using avi setting and picking codec of indeo and cinepac I think it is.Quality seems to lean abit. But If I oick ntcs for the compression(which I believe is none)it looks great after render.
What could be wrong with this?
I want to take these files and burn to dvd.
Help?

2.Also i am using an o1v mixer. My prob here is when I am previewing the video and while recording,I get choppy audio and my o1v flashes word clock input sync error.
Is this an issue with the o1v digital signal?
My signal goes from the vcr to sony media capture box into pyro fire card.
Then audio comes out of hammerfall audo card into o1v.
Any thoughts?
Thanx to all who answer.;-)

Darr,

YOUR FIRST QUESTION:

Whenever you record stuff back to a VCR here in America, ALWAYS use the NTSC standards. Using anything else will result in improperly rendered video.

Now what are you using to slap your video on a VCR? A PC-TV converter? All-in-Wonder card? DV camcorder? For quality's sake, always use the best settings possible when dubbing video to a VCR. And you say you want this stuff burned to a DVD as well? In that case, here's a template I recommend to you:

NTSC DV:
- AVI file extention
- Frame size of 720x480
- Lower field rendered first (unless you have a progressive scan device)
- NTSC format (codec)
- PCM audio, 48KHz, 16-bit stereo

Now render your videos like that in VideoFactory.

YOUR SECOND QUESTION:

I have no experience with the O1V, but my guess is that it's not locking to the word clock sync properly, either because it's listening as a slave and not hearing the master, or there's something wrong with its clock. Do you have a word clock cable connecting your devices? Do you have the slaves and master set? Check the master/slave relationship between all your devices. It would only give you a word clock error if there was a sync problem.

Hope this helps,

Should I not render as mpeg2 for dvd and choose dvd ntsc?

Thanx for the help!!
I am working on the o1v prob.Seems to be something with the word clock.
