I could be mistaken but the way I understand it is that the UAD-1 DX version will be incorporating the fxpansion wrapper as part of the DX native functioning. The user won't have to do anything but insert the plugins, tweak settings, etc. ??

I'm definitely interested to see what Pipeline has to say about Vegas compatibility. I'd love to get one if it's SOLID.

I tell you this...playing your guitar THRU nigel in vegas 4 with input monitoring on is AWESOME. Billybk has one of these things running too. Theres a LOT of futzing and tweaking to make this work, and probably gigs of posts in other forums about making these things behave. Right now it is a TOTAL pain in the ass, but I sort of have it running sort of ok kinda in vegas 3 using the fxspansion wrapper, then trying different buffer sizes in there. Really, just hope they get it right come the 31'st. This thing is awesome when its working, but getting there is nuts...Silly me, trying to figure out how to get vegas 4 beta working at the same time using a beta fxspansion wrapper :) recipe for disaster

How is the verb Pipeline? That's the thing I'm most interested in. I record a lot of ambient material with solo flutes and such. . . lots of space and openness with lush, very long and open verbs. However the noise in my PCM 80 is sometimes noticable (all of the PCM versions are fairly noisy in my opinion). The 80 sounds awesome of course and I haven't found a plugin that can even come close. I'm hoping something like the Dreamverb in the UAD-1 will be an acceptable substitute.

well know about the dreamverb in a few days :) but the other one...man drives me nuts, but there are some user patches that are OK, but it has a whacko UI and just tries to concentrate too hard on simulating reality

drbam,
I still use my PCM80 all the time, but however only the digital i/o is used or as you say the noise is easily heard over the silent noise floor of digital mixing.
I have a bus set up in the vegas mix so it is an automatable send like an internal effect but has it's own digital out and returns into the Mixtreme mixer with the rest of the vegas mix so as to avoid latency issues.
An insert on the Mixtreme mix bus records back into vegas for the final print.

I would pay a lot to have the lexicon sound as a plug so I didn't have to use external hardware. The main benefit is offline non realtime rendering which can save many hours of time. That is where the UAD still isn't the final solution because it still is essentially external hardware and must be used in realtime.
