I'm about to boy a MIDI controller, before that. I'll like to know what are the real diferences in performance and options between a MACKIE CONTROL UNIVERSAL, AND evolution UC-33e...

at least I hope the UC-33e is a good starter..
Is anyone using it??

please give us some positive or negative advise
Thanks.

Options? There aren't any for control surfaces yet!!!! There are worlds of difference between something like the UC-33 and an MCU. I use a Tascam 1884 for controlling Cubase and Vegas, but I started with an Edirol UR-80, which is very similar to the UC-33. Biggest thing - automated faders. Messing with non-automated faders is really annoying, really. It's good to get a dedicated transport control but believe me - you'll want automated faders the first time you use it. It doesn't become useless - as you can still use the controller for anything...live apps, synth tweaking, etc.

As for MCU vs 1884 vs 01v vs etc - they all have their respective bugs and seem to have the same issues with service. I chose the 1884 simply cause it had a boatload more features ie ASIO 8x8 audio interface, 4x4 midi, functions as a standalone mixer too. I haven't had any trouble out of my 1884.

My two cents.
