Uggh I really need some help here

Ok, my computer has a virus or something is going seriously wrong. I was working on a recent project and saved and closed it. When I went back to open it up as the files were building the program stopped and the error message said "The file could not be created, another file with the same name exists".

I am completely crazed over this and have tried everything I know to fix it. Even renaming the files etc.. etc.

Any ideas out there on what might have happened?

Hmm, that is strange.

Have you tried clearing out your temp directory? The one listed as the 'Temporary files folder' in the General tab of Tools->Options... dialog?

Guessing, I'd think that one of the files Vegas is creating is/was trying to overwrite an existing file that was somehow altered so it couldn't be overwritten. As you wouldn't manually change the atributes of one of these files to read only, hidden etc., I'd suggest running a disk check first, then as Scott wrote go searching for any temp files, including your windows temp directory. IF the prob. still persists, I'd look at the sfk files Vegas creates, perhaps move them to another folder, and try firing up the proj. If the prob doesn't go away, put the sfk files back, and see if you can find the backup for the proj file you previously saved (using an undelete utility, might also find older versions to try.
