Uh-oh, artifact while shooting. Post fixes?

After viewing some video I shot at a soccer game, I find I have a problem introduced by the scene:

There is a wrought-iron fence surrounding the soccer complex. The fence is about 6 ft. high, black vertical bars spaced 6 or 8 inches apart. This fence is in the background in many shots.

When I play the video on a TV (direct from camera), the fence in the background, coupled I assume with the motion of the camera, creates a very annoying video effect. Almost as if there is a moire efect applied.

If you can visualize what I'm talking about, do you have any ideas how I might correct or reduce the effect in Vegas? Blur o glow maybe? I haven't captured or edited any of this footage yet.

I think this is actually moire (sp?), like when the news guy wears a tightly striped tye & it seems to vibrate. You could try the "reduce interlace flicker" in properties. The best way I've found of fixing it is to actually work in progressive frames... but, of course, that opens up a whole other can of worms.

Did you shoot this at 24p or is this standard 29.97 NTSC interlaced video?

Try right clicking on the track select "Switches" and then select "Reduce interlace Flicker" see if that helps.

You can also try:
Unsharp mask
amount = -0.5
radius = 0.003
threshold = 0.040

Or even linear blur. If you attach your TV via S-video or component, the effect you're seeing may go away.
