Ultimate S 2.0 is now available from VASST

I think there are about 10 lower third graphics that are installed already. Are those the ones included in GrafPak 1 and 2??

When you pay for UItimate S 2.0, you are emailed a link to the Extras package, that is downloaded from the website. That includes all the audio tools, GrafPak 1, and GrafPak 2.

So then, if I uninstall version 5 of Vegas, I doubt Ultimate S 1 will delete itself, right?

Would I then have to manually uninstall version US1? And if so, will it mess anything up in the process with my version 2???

Galen, If you purchase Ultimate S2 then you don’t have everything. As Spot said you should have gotten an email with a link to all the extras. If you only have the trial, then there are 5 lower thirds each from GrafPak-1 & 2 and 6 audio presets from AudioPak-1 as a sample of what the full package contains.

I changed the behavior of the installer before we shipped to NOT uninstall US1 because I realized that people would want to try US2 out first. So while Spot may have seen betas that uninstalled the previous version, the final product does not. I felt it was better to let you decide since the two can coexist. (although US1 is only needed if you still have Vegas 5 until the next update to US2)

YES! Because they share common components, uninstalling US1 will remove things that US2 needs. This is because our original strategy was to always uninstall before a re-install. The simple fix is to install US2 and US2Xtras again. No need to uninstall them. Just run the two installers again and it will put the common components back in their place.

So, if I understand things correctly, and I do NOT want version 1 on my system, I must manually:

1) uninstall version 1.
2) RE-install version 2.

However, I must consider the fact that Vegas 5 will lose the Ultimate S capability if I DO remove version 1.

Spot and/or JR,

If you are interested in an in-depth review of Ultimate S, please let me know at jim@jimcoaddins.com. I've recently written many video reviews (including one for Vegas 6) that have been quite well-received.

Is there a problem with the VASST web site? I received an email today to upgrade to Celluloid 1.1 and that download worked. Haven't installed. But the link to Reel Pak download is dead and the "CONTACT" link shows "page cannot be found".

Thanks for pointing this out. I don’t know how it got unlinked but I just fixed it. Try it now. There should be a new button now that says Download.

If you’re still using Vegas 5, keep US1 on your system for another week until the new version of US2 with Vegas 5 support is out and then when you uninstall US1, just install the new US2 and it will work in both Vegas 5 and Vegas 6.

Does the new Celluloid work with V6? There is no mention of it on the web site. I have been using the old version with 6 and it works fine.
JohnnyRoy wrote on 7/23/2005, 10:09 AM
Yes, the updated Celluloid 1.1 works with both Vegas 5 and Vegas 6. ALL of the VASST Software products work in both versions of Vegas except for US2 until the next update.

I will share with you quite honestly why Ultimate S2 doesn’t work with Vegas 5 yet because I feel it’s important for customers to understand:

I had a major setback in development getting the licensing to work across multiple dynamic link libraries for the various new "Paks" we just introduced. What would usually take a day, took me over a week. That’s a week I could have been adding new features to Ultimate S2 (and for those of you on the beta team, you know I can crank out 4 or 5 new features in a week) but instead I'm adding anti-pirate measures. One of the things that didn’t make it into the final release was Vegas 5 support.

So if anyone says pirates don't cost software companies money, THIS is what the price is: LESS features in the software for customers like YOU because of the time it takes to develop and debug anti-pirating features that MUST be added to protect our intellectual property and time investment.

So I apologize for not having a simultaneous release of US2 for Vegas 5 and Vegas 6. No one is more disappointed (or frustrated) than me. I’m working on the Vegas 5 version of US2 now. Just hang in there, and thanks for your patience.

Interesting thing when I add Celluloid 1.1 to V6b. The old celluloid icon on the toolbar has been replaced by a generic scripting icon which doesn't work. If I customize the toolbar and add the correct Celluloid icon, all is fine. However, next time I open V6, the Celluloid icon has again been replaced by the non-functioning scripting icon.
JohnnyRoy wrote on 7/23/2005, 10:28 AM
Hmmm... did you have the old Celluloid installed in both Vegas 5 and Vegas 6? If you did, you must have manually copied the VASST Celluloid directory from one Script Menu to the other because our old installer didn’t support multiple versions.

Try this:

1. Uninstalling the new Celluloid 1.1.
2. Look in both the Vegas 5 and Vegas 6 Script Menu folders and physically delete the VASST Celluloid folder in both.
3. Open Vegas 5 and close it.
4. Open Vegas 6 and close it. (this is just to make sure Vegas acknowledges that Celluloid is gone).
5. Now Install Celluloid 1.1.

You will need to use the License Installer to add your license key back (because you will have deleted the folder that it was in). Hopefully this will make Vegas recognize the new Celluloid correctly. Let us know if it worked.

Are the Grafpaks only accessible through the Ultimate S plugin? Or can someone purchase just those grafpaks and be able to use and access them that way?

Since you guys seem to be on the forefront of Vegas plugin creation, any chance you could make a Text pluggin that adds animated presents like AE 6.5 does? Just wishfull thinking but it would be great.. almost like Hyroglyph only more... easy to use. Just a thought though... Thanks!
Spot|DSE wrote on 7/23/2005, 8:19 PM
Videoboy, there are several things on the US2 featurelist we've not released as of yet, and can't comment on what those might or might not be. However....look at the Special FX tab and that might give you hints about what direction we're continuing to go.
Dave, currently GrafPaks are accessible only via Ultimate S 2.0. The file installer looks for US2.

Seeing those "hints" is what lead me to ask the question... can't wait! Keep up the good work!
FrigidNDEditing wrote on 7/24/2005, 7:45 AM
so those grafpaks are another 100 plus reasons to go for the us2 plugin. It seems like it just keeps getting better and better.

great work guys!!!
