Unable to get FSD in preview or External monitor setting

wilco-n wrote on 5/17/2025, 10:26 PM

I'm sure I must have missed something.

I'm using Win11 Pro, Vegas 21 Pro build 315,32GB mem, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

I have tried the ctrl shft while starting which did what it is supposed to do but it didn't fix this problem.

I have been working on a video showing side by side video but it started to prevent me from getting a Full Screen Display when I restore in pan/crop.

I removed the other video from the time line and turned off the FX picture in picture I was using to get the split screen effect.

Here is a combined screen shot.

Hope someone can spot my error.

Thanks.

It may be that you've inadvertently used the preview window zoom function and shifted the preview image off centre. To return the preview image back to its default layout, place the mouse pointer over the preview window and double-click the mouse's scroll wheel.

You can disable the preview window zoom function by clicking on the 'Zoom Preview Window' button at the top of the preview window and check the 'Bypass Zoom' option.

Thanks Dexon for the suggestion.

I tried what you suggested eg double clicking (which I use often but tried it again just to be sure) and also the bypass method which I haven't used before but unfortunately didn't resolve it.

Usually if I find Vegas Pro has got confused or I'm tied, I'll reboot the computer in the hope it will come back to normal. I did try that a few times but still the same result.

Something I should mention is the previous footage I have set the video to crop it so I have 1/2 FSD and placed it to the right using PiP

I have added a key at the end of that video in case it was carrying over the setting but that didn't make a difference either.

I was going to show a screen shot of my presets but it looks like they have gone probably because I did the reset eg Ctrl + Shft when starting Vegas Pro. ( is there a way to save those before it does a reset? Or can I place them in a different location to prevent them from being removed/deleted

Here is my toolbar settings in case I am missing something there.

Thanks again.

@wilco-n Is the image still off centre if you change the preview mode from Preview (Auto) at the top of the window to one of the other options like Good (Half)?.

The Preview (Auto) option has shown problems in other posts, the reason was never clear 🤷‍♂️

Custom presets can be found in ('Hidden Items' needs to be activated in Windows Explorer in order to see the first 2 items):

Render - C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\VEGAS\Render Templates

Window Layouts - C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\VEGAS Pro\21.0

Vegas VFX - C:\Documents\OFX Presets

Some other custom presets are likely to be stored in the Registry so will likely have to be reset after a reset to default settings or a clean re-install.

Under the Options menu in Vegas Pro 21, there are options to export and import Preferences. Not having used these options, I'm not sure what data is exported/imported.

Re the offset image, another thing to check is to make sure that reframing hasn't been applied via Track Motion in the track header or that there is an FX applied in the track header that would affect framing.

@Dexcon @wilco-n Hmm, I thought that as there is evidence by a track keyframe, 👍 & although 'and turned off the FX picture in picture' is mentioned there's no PinP in the Pan/Crop window, so assumed that track keyframe was the PinP Track FX that was 'turned off' 🤷‍♂️

@Dexcon

I found a work around for FSD. I just moved the track to a new track. This has fixed it but

I don't think it is a solution.

I did check the track header or at least I think I did - I clicked on the beginning of the track and selected

Thanks, there are items in the render directory.

I don't know how to bring them back into Vegas Pro!

In my case the OFX Presets folder is here - Z:\MyData\Documents\OFX Presets

I move folders to this drive to help reduce the space used on C:

"Z:\MyData\Documents\OFX Presets\com.vegascreativesoftware_titlesandtext"
"Z:\MyData\Documents\OFX Presets\com.magixsoftware_panorotation"

@Gid thanks for helping out.

@wilco-n when you move the clip to another track is solving the issue than probably the track motion setting of the issue track is not default. BTW the settings you showed are from the audio track.

wilco-n wrote on 5/20/2025, 5:20 AM

@3POINT

Thanks for pointing out I posted the audio track.

Here is the Video track

Dexcon wrote on 5/20/2025, 6:03 AM

As I suggested earlier that you check and 3POINT has since suggested, the video track on which the offset image was occurring more than likely had Track Moton applied. Track Motion is not an FX; rather, it is similar to pan/crop but affects every video event on the track, just not one event.

Track Motion can be accessed by either R clicking on the track header and selecting More from the context window that opens then selecting Track Motion; or clicking on the 3 dots at the top of the far RH edge of the track header and checking Track Motion so that it appears as a button in the track header (as per the above image).

In the above image, I've shifted the image window in the Track Motion workspace to the right (0.00 to 500.00 in the X position) which replicates closely what you were experiencing. Any other video event added to that track will also be offset.

Moving the video event to a new track solved the problem because the new track created does not by default have any track motion applied (unless the track is duplicated).

You were right; it looks like there were Track Motion keyframes after all.

What puzzles me is how they got there, as I never used that feature.

While checking Track Motion, I dragged the slider along the motion path, but the main video didn’t move in the Video Preview window.

While checking the Track motion I was dragging the slider along the track motion path but in the Video Preview window nothing moved.

Is there something that needs to be enable to make the video move with the movement of the slider while in the Track motion window?

Thank you for showing me — your picture made it clear.

Lock the cursor of trackmotion to the cursor of the timeline, enable first icon on the trackmotion toolbar
